Nicholas Flamel was born on September 28,1317, people say he died in 1418 but his tomb is empty! He has been alive for 700 years, now known at the greatest alchemist of his day!

The main idea for this book it that there is this husband and wife that have been alive since 1317, and they are the keepers of this book that in this book there are spells that could end the world! There are also recipes for an elixir of life in the hands of them have kept them alive! So when someone steals the book there friends Josh Newman and Sophie Newman must go, find the person who stole it and get it back before the thief ends the world and before the husband and wife wither away to what age they would have been!

There are six main characters but I’m only listing four so I won’t give too much away. Nicholas Flamel, Perelle Flamel, Josh Newman, and Sophie Newman. I think the author described them very well!

  1. Nicholas Flamel is the husband of Perelle Flamel. He has been alive since 1317. He owns a bookstore. He is nice to everyone he will go out of the way to save someone.
  2. Perelle Flamel is the wife of Nicholas Flames. She has been alive since 1317 as well. She is nice to everyone and she will do anything to keep her friends and family protected!
  3. Josh Newman he is the brother of Sophie Newman. He is nice and caring.
  4. Sophie Newman she is the sister of Josh Newman. She is just like her brother and works at a Coffee shop.

I think the author described them perfectly and always made sure that everyone was introduced witch is hard to remember sometimes especially for a book as long as this one!

There are numerous settings and I will only say two because describing the others would give to much away.

The Coffee Shop: One of the first settings in the book is in a coffee shop where Sophie and her friend are sitting down. It wasn’t described as well as I thought it should have.

The Book Store: The second setting in the start of the book that held most of the action in the first three or so chapters was the book store where they introduced Josh Newman and Nicholas Flamel. I think they described it to the best of their ability by describing the look of the book shelves, floor, and the action in it was outstanding! This is my favorite setting in the whole book!

This is book one of a six book series including for book two The Magician (The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel), book three The Sorceress (The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel), book four  The Necromancer (The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel), book five The Warlock (The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel), and book six The Enchantress (The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel)!

Overall this book was amazing  it had a really awesome plot. I loved how he put so much fantasy and action but still kept it a mystery! It was brilliant! I recommend looking into reading this book and the rest of the series. Also they made a movie of it!
