Tammy Dewhirst was born and raised in Ypsilanti, Michigan – just outside of Ann Arbor. Educated in a church school and raised in a generally restrictive environment, Tammy’s mother was a strong believer in education and not limiting – within reason – the type of literature available to her children. At any early age, Tammy developed an interest in biography and mystery that have lasted her a lifetime. She attended varied universities in Tennessee and Michigan eventually earning degrees in history, politics, literature and historical preservation. Tammy now works as the President of a branch of a provincial non-profit and lives with her husband and young daughter in Amherstburg, Ontario.

Alex, Tammy’s daughter, is an occasional contributor to Rabid Readers Too. Tammy fostered a love of reading in Alex by reading to her while in the womb and continued the tradition of reading every night until she was in Grade 3. Alex still reads most nights. Her favorite books were “Charlotte’s Web” and anything by Dr. Seuss. Alex’s current obsession is dragons and she’s currently absorbing anime at an alarming rate.
